Wish list
West Delhi has everything a resident can ever wish for. Yet, there are some things it misses out on. Here’s what WDP Guest Editor wants it to have
An equipped library
There’s an entire world to explore when it comes to books, but they have taken a backseat because of kids being introduced at a young age to playstations and television sets.
Cultural centres
A platform for youth to come together and express their views. The likes of Dilli Haat, India Habitat Centre are required where youngsters can come together to put up street plays and make themselves heard.
Amusement parks
A place where families can rejoice together making for a great weekend and a perfect get away.
neat and clean
It’s time we honour other people’s space and strictly stop people smoking on the roads, in the public buses. Be it spitting on the roads, throwing garbage, all it needs is an effort to bring about a change in the way we do things around us.
Safety for women
We might love to call ourselves developed in the literal sense of the word, but when it comes to women walking alone down the road at 7 in the evening, it’s still not a preferable thing to go for.
Doing our bit
Be it for the maid’s little child or the people who spend their lives on roads, lets help them with things we usually tend to discard like the old clothes, books etc.
It is high time we stop cribbing about what the authorities do or rather don’t do. The power to bring in change lies in our hands. Let’s make a resolution to clean the roads around that we hate to see dirty, plant trees in the parks around, use tools like Right to Information to awaken the government when required. After all, the journey of a thousand miles begins with a small step. Take small actions, solve small problems because small is indeed big.
